Godalming College

Godalming College is a sixth form college situated in Godalming, Surrey, with a cleaning area of approximately 15000m². We provide full, daily cleaning services after college hours for the following areas: classrooms, toilets, stairs, corridors, reception, library, offices, staff rooms, lab/prep rooms, tech rooms, assembly and dining halls, and sports hall. We also provide periodic cleaning and provide consumables.

To address challenges with recruitment and retention in the area, we offer our staff transportation to and from the College for each shift. This is an added benefit for our staff working at Godalming College and also ensures that we can fulfil our contractual obligations by maintaining a fully staffed site. Our business model is a testament to our commitment to the job satisfaction for our staff and the fulfilment of our duties as a service provider.

When YBC retained the contract after a 5-year term we committed to approach the new term with a new staffing structure approach with new cleaning equipment to introduce additional service initiatives within our operational delivery.

At Godalming College, we have successfully introduced a Thumbprint Scanner Time and Attendance System to improve the monitoring of time and attendance for our cleaning team. Using this system, each cleaning operative is required to scan their thumbprint at the beginning and end of their shift. Doing so accurately logs their time on site. This system is used in conjunction with traditional paper timesheets, providing an infallible approach to tracking attendance.

Each month, the Site Supervisor downloads a report from the thumbprint scanner which is then submitted along with the timesheets for that month. Our process ensures complete transparency on the real hours worked by our cleaning team. By cross-referencing the data from the thumbprint report with the paper timesheets, any discrepancies in timings can be identified and addressed. Through this, we can easily track any hours owed to the College.
